AHD & IOM join hands to construct 500 ORS at UC Kaloi, District Tharparkar.

Heavy rains 2011 affected large community of Sindh especially in south. NDMA reported that 5.35 million (32 percent women) people were affected in Sindh province. 1.19 million houses were damaged or destroyed and over 301,000 people (78,000 women, 140,000 children) resided in over 2,150 relief sites across the province.

A a response IOM is constructing 5800 ORS in southern sindh. On this project each HH will receive 26500 in three tranches to construct their shelters as part of early recovery program. These shelters will complete by November 2011 (6 months project).

AHD and IOM also worked togather at district Dadu as partners to support floods 2010 community at 3 Union Councils of Taluka Johi to construct 800 ORS and completed the project with vital success. As a result of performance AHD was further selected for Community Restoration Program (CRP) to construct Pathways and cleaning of water chanels for same villages of UC Kamal Khan of Taluka Johi.

AHD also establish 100 camps with IOM for IDPs at Taluka Johi of District Dadu and Makli district Thatta where 10000 HH were provided shelter support in camps along with NFIs. AHD also facilitated district focal person for shelter cluster  and early recover working group at district Thatta and Dadu respectively on behalf of IOM for 8 months to facilitate coordination between INGOs, UN Agencies and local organizations. As a flood response, AHD partnered with IOM, ADP Inc USA, Care International, and BHP Billiton to provide shelter, food, NFIs, health facility, and livelihood grants to recover from flood 201.
